Private Universities

Here's another strong argument for private universities. This is an excerpt from my daily calendar for today.

5:30-7:00pm, EJF kegs on the Quad
7:00-10:00pm, Barrister's Council banquet, at Drinx, open bar and hors d'ouevres
8:00-10:00pm, GULC wine tasters, wines of Alsace-Lorraine
8:00-11:00pm, free keg at the Gilbert And Sullivan musical

Of course, the joy of that schedule is mitigated somewhat by the four hours of Criminal Procedure and Property that precede it, not to mention the several hours of reading to prepare for those classes before them. But after class, that's a pretty sweet schedule.

I restate my position that night students get fucked (and not in a preferrable way) as illustrated by your post.

You're already out by the time 2 of those 4 things start. They're not gonna have a keg on the quad at 6:00am so that you can go before work, and while personally, I'd love if events were scheduled throughout the night, that isn't feasible for most day or night students.

It's not that night students are getting fucked, it's that most night students have a job AND school, so their schedules are pretty impossible to work around.

I disrespectably disagree, sir.
Night students are out of class at 7:50 on most nights. I am uncertain as to why no keg-on-the-quad events ever even overlap this time.
While you are correct that many night students have day jobs and have schedules that are difficult to schedule around, it is my belief that, on the whole, night students are marginalized.
While there are a few events (and I do mean a few) specifically for night students, even those events aren't well planned. For example - tonight is the night of the "Section 7 Extravaganza." However, tonight is also the last night before finals of Section 7 tutorials. The tutorials happen every Thursday...EVERY Thursday. Why not schedule the "Extravaganza" on ANY other day besides this Thursday? Why? - because people don't pay attention to Section 7 when planning events - even events exclusively for Section 7!
I realize you have nothing to do with this, but I thought it illustrated my point.

Yeah, and day students never have events when they should be working on things.
