Can you afford to be a vigilante?

  • Forbes calculates how much it would cost to be Batman. Based on the movie Batman Begins, they've determined the price based on cost of training, gadgets, etc.

  • Also, some guy in Australia had his nose bitten off while in a brawl over how good Sin City was.
  • Check out this great video on The 7 Words You Can't Say In Kindergarten.
  • And related to the last link, are drastically increasing numbers of tuskless Asian elephants evidence of an evolutionary response to poaching?
  • This week is the EFF's Blog-A-Thon, commemorating 15 years of fighting for digital rights. They're a great charity to support (I'm a bumper-sticker-having member), though this whole thing has nothing to do with raising money. They're asking people to blog about ways they've taken a stand over their digital rights (I love that phrase), and then they'll be awarding prizes to the most humorous, best overall, and most inspirational. Maybe I'll write some post for the blog-a-thon later.

  • Creative Commons License

John Dvorak has written an article trashing Creative Commons licensing. He says it's "one of the dumbest initiatives ever put forth by the tech community. I mean seriously dumb. Eye-rolling dumb on the same scale as believing the Emperor is wearing fabulous new clothes." If you've noticed the CC license link on my right sidebar, you know that I probably disagree. Dvorak doesn't get it. The purpose of Creative Commons isn't to provide more protections for copyright holders, it's to make it easier to grant fewer protections. It's to allow greater sharing. Read my license and consider licensing your work using Creative Commons licensing.

And count on forking over $297,000 a year on gifts, including Tiffany diamond earrings and necklaces for your lady friends.

That reminds me. Why, in my time at Vanderbilt, did I not befriend one of the super rich kids? I never did! Where were they all hiding?

You come up with the best hodgepodge of links I've ever seen. I love clicking through all the stuff you manage to find in the average day.
